Are you wondering who I am?

I am a passionate pen-turner. Writing pens of course!

I did my carpentry apprenticeship with my father, but never finished it. My father was a medical doctor. And in his free time, he made furniture and ships. The first boat was too heavy and sunk on the maiden voyage. Thank God we could save ourselves.

But that's how you learn, from mistakes. Three ships later, I built a beautiful, graceful cedar canoe. Other projects in wood included book racks, furniture for music components, cradles, loudspeakers, picture frames and all kinds of knick-knack projects.

Besides, I studied economics and explored the business world. As my father, I always went back to the workshop in my free time. Somehow the woodworm had gotten into me. I learned a lot from mistakes and frustrations, but was proud of every piece I created, no matter how skewed and crooked it was.

I learned writing in a «Creative Writing» course; and enjoyed the affair with the muse and the technique of forming words. Consequently, I loved my green fountain pen from a well-known German brand, from which many beautiful words came through. That was the cornerstone of my discovery as a pen-turning enthusiast.

In father's workshop, back then, we had a wood turning machine, better known as a lathe. I learned to turn table legs. Pepper grinders followed later.

At the cost of many mistakes and scraps, now I’m older, wiser, and more experienced in wood turning. I’ve gotten to know many types of woods: native and exotic, front and longwood, from deciduous and coniferous trees. I found enthusiasm for this natural product, its diversity and its aesthetics in the final work.

It had to come as it should. Many ideas and visions turned around in my head for what should become of me in the advanced years. Yes, it turned and turned in my head until I decided - thanks to Eureka - to become a pen-turner. I bought a small lathe, lots of irons and tons of emery cloths, and started to turn. Today it has become a passion that has given me much satisfaction and many happy hours. I’ve even gotten much admiration and praise from friends and folks that see my pens.

I would like to share my enthusiasm for pens with other people who master the craft of writing and who appreciate these writing tools.
